Three (3) shareholding groups own AFC, i.e. one founding group from Houston Texas & two private equity funds from France & the UK.
AFC is composed of two complementing, Dakar-based Operating Companies:

Fortesa International Senegal, LDC was founded with the aim of exploring / producing hydrocarbons in onshore Senegal. Fortesa invested in pipeline and production facilities in 1999 & using one expat and >1000 Senegalese trenched and installed a 32 kms Gas delivery pipeline. We commenced production of stranded Gas in 2002 & added another 4+ kms to new private markets in 2010.
In 2004 we formed indigenous Africa Onshore Drilling to cost-effectively / reliably meet NW African drilling needs by containing large mobilization / ex-pat day-rate costs via training Senegalese personnel in all equipment maintenance and drilling functions.
Since 2005 Africa Onshore Drilling has successfully drilled twenty-two onshore wells in West Africa for Fortesa & for other Operators, >70% of them in Senegal, nine of which Fortesa continues to produce. Fortesa has effectively displaced heavy oil-based power generation by using gas fueled diesels to cost-effectively reduce pollution, increasing local content and generating home grown power production, reducing dependency on imported oil based fuels.
Fortesa currently ‘Operates’:
- Nine onshore wells producing shallow gas & condensate
- A gas pipeline to public and private gas markets close to Dakar
- Multiple deeper exploration wells planned into Cretaceous Gallic Sands
- >200 local staff based in Senegal
Africa Onshore Drilling currently owns:
Two fully equipment land drilling rigs with all associated / supporting equipment, & crewed by full-time AOD employees from West Africa.
